I work with black as a psychological and spatial condition rather than a color.
My paintings examine the tension between presence and absence, control and vulnerability. Isolated forms appear suspended within dense fields of black, where space becomes both physical and mental.
In this environment, darkness is not symbolic. It functions as depth - a site of confrontation and awareness.
The work invites sustained looking. Meaning does not illustrate itself; it unfolds in silence.
Nóra Bankó (b. Hungary) is a Paris-based painter.
Her practice explores black as a spatial and psychological presence through minimal compositions and controlled realism.
She has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Paris.
Bankó’s paintings investigate perception, suspension and the relationship between light and depth.
